In their weekly media update yesterday, DWR and Kiewit Construction representatives noted their biggest challenge at this time, is an extended stretch of triple-digit heat this summer. The Executive Director of the project said extreme measures are being takn to ensure worker safety including :prodigious amounts of water and fruit.” Last year Kiewit provided 4,000 lbs. Of fruit and 40,000 gallons of water and it’s believed they’ll surpass those amounts this year.

As for actual construction, concrete pouring is scheduled to begin next Monday on the second half of the emergency spillway splash pad, designed to prevent the type of erosion which lead to the crisis in February 2017.
