BILL BANNING SCHOOLS FROM SUSPENDING KIDS FOR ‘WILLFUL DEFIANCE’ SIGNED BY NEWSOM

California public and charter schools can no longer suspend students for willful defiance. Governor Newsom signed the bill into law yesterday. Starting next school year, public and charters schools are banned from suspending students in grades 4 to 8 for disrupting school activities or willfully defying school authorities. The law also applies to high school students until January 1, 2025. It goes into effect July 1, 2020.
